Get to know Susana

Susana started her career in Mattamy in 2013 as a Sales Administrator, before transitioning into a Sales Operations Specialist in 2018. In March 2021, Susana was promoted to Manager, Sales Operations for our GTA Low Rise Division where she is responsible for developing and overseeing a smooth, effective sales process to enable the growth of the Division.

What does a typical morning look like for you?

7:00 am
I start my morning with a good, strong coffee, while reviewing my emails and calendar When I am driving into the office, I like to listen to a podcast. 

 

8:00 am
Every day at work is different. Things change frequently, I kick off my day by evaluating our daily/weekly sales against our weekly/monthly sales projections. 

 

9:00 am
I perform competitive shopping analysis to ensure we keep a pulse on current and future markets. On a given day I could be researching multiple markets pivoting from East Pickering to West Oakville and the surrounding Greater Toronto Area.

 

10:00 am
Throughout the day I can be in meetings reviewing proposed pricing and new sales strategies, for our current and upcoming markets.

 

11:00 am
I connect with our various Sales Teams to review their prospected leads and opportunities, to align sales strategies.   

How has your career evolved at Mattamy and what were some of the actions you took to get you where you are today?

I first joined Mattamy in 2013 as a Sales Office Administrator under Norman Hill Realty (Mattamy’s sales trade partner in the Greater Toronto Area), working in various Mattamy sales offices across the GTA. I progressed to Sales Operations Specialist in October 2018 and continued to grow within Mattamy’s Sales & Marketing team. In March 2021, I was promoted to Manager, Sales Operations.

 

I can attribute my growth to versatility, being adaptable to change and being curious! I took the initiative to ask many questions and continued to develop my skills.

What skills does someone need to be successful at Mattamy?

To succeed at Mattamy you need an innovative mindset, be versatile and adaptable to change. Be ready to learn and grow, even if it's uncomfortable at first.

What do you enjoy most about being the Manager, Sales Operations?

Being a part of a homebuyer’s biggest purchase and helping them with the process of building their dream home is truly a rewarding feeling. Nothing beats watching a homebuyer purchase their first home and being a part of such a great milestone!

What is the best career advice you have received at Mattamy?

Perfect is boring. You have to be comfortable stretching yourself outside of your comfort zone. Be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Sometimes you need positive stress to motivate you.

What excites you about your future at Mattamy?

What excites me most about my future at Mattamy:

  1. The future of Mattamy = innovation. I love how we continue to think of new innovative ways to improve our customer experience, homeownership, and community sustainability all while maintaining our competitive advantage.

  2. Mattamy has given me the opportunity to learn and work on multiple impactful projects. The possibilities at Mattamy are endless. At time of pressure, I love a good challenge and with everyday truly being different at Mattamy, a new challenge is always on the horizon.
