Potential Fraud Alert Bulletin
It has come to our attention that there is fraudulent activity circulating in the real estate market.
In particular, a company that operates as “Estate Financial” and/or “2717205 Ontario Inc.” is fraudulently holding themselves out to be acting on behalf of Mattamy Homes and is claiming that it owns lands (which lands are in fact owned by Mattamy). In addition, Estate Financial has been including floor plans and site plans that they have likely found on Mattamy websites and have simply removed the Mattamy name and logo and they are presenting them as their own offerings.
These entities are specifically asking potential purchasers for deposit monies to be made payable to “2717205 Ontario Inc.” and claim to be turning these deposit monies over to Mattamy.
These entities have no affiliation whatsoever to Mattamy Homes.
Any deposit monies for the purchase of a Mattamy Home would only be payable to a Mattamy entity or to one of Mattamy’s solicitors.
Please be cautious. There could be other fraudsters out there beyond the ones that we have come across. We care about all of our purchasers and potential purchasers and wouldn’t want anyone to get caught up in this fraudulent activity.
