Rideau Canal

The Rideau Canal is a monumental early 19th-century construction, designed to allow transportation for steam-powered vessels between Ottawa and Lake Ontario. Now designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Canal offers opportunity for recreation, including kayaking, canoeing or - most famously - an ice skate through the city.
